Curtis has a unique way of turning life into art. Each of her many shows has marked a new understanding about life. With the move to Brattleboro in 2002, Curtis approached her new life with big questions about who she could be and what was possible. In this exploration, the concept of balance seemed essential in the reinvention of a life. It was inside this quest that Ms. Curtis created nine works called A Question of Balance.

Ms. Curtis invents picture motifs that show up in all the work she creates: painting, graphic design, block printed cards, quilts or in her “stuffed drawings”, which she shapes into mobiles.  She likes to translate concepts into ideographs, which evolve and change as she reinvents them in different venues. She says “they become familiar like friends.”
